Surgery
Surgery
Routine and soft-tissue procedures in our own theatre, with a dedicated nurse monitoring anaesthesia from induction to recovery. Nobody is left unattended.
Morning admission, most home the same day
Who this is for
Any patient needing a planned procedure: lump removals, wound repairs, bladder surgery, exploratory abdominal surgery, and the routine work that makes up most surgical days. Complex orthopaedic and specialist cases are referred, and we will tell you plainly when that is the better option.
What’s involved
Pre-anaesthetic examination and bloodwork, an anaesthetic tailored to the individual patient, the procedure itself, and monitored recovery. A nurse stays with your animal from induction until they are awake and comfortable.
What happens on the day
Admission in the morning with time to ask questions. We call you when the procedure is finished and again when they’re awake. If anything unexpected comes up mid-procedure, we stop and call you before we continue.
How to prepare
No food after 10pm the night before; water is fine until morning. Leave a number you will answer all day. Bring a carrier for cats and rabbits, and a blanket that smells like home if it helps them settle.
Recovery
Rest, restricted exercise and pain relief for as long as we’ve prescribed it, which is usually longer than the point where they look fine. Wound checks are included. Call us if the wound is red, swollen, wet or smells: those are the four things worth ringing about.
Cost
Quoted individually once we know what’s involved. The quote covers the anaesthetic, the procedure, medication to go home with, and the post-operative checks. We tell you the number before we proceed, including when the honest answer is that it’s expensive.
Book this appointment
Request a time in about two minutes. We confirm by phone within one working day.
